We all value creativity. The results of an IBM survey of 1,500 company Chief Executive Officers from 60 countries identified creativity as the “most crucial factor for future success.” Creativity is undeniably a vital skill and it is no secret that children are born with creativity. However, with a busy and varied curriculum to deliver it is perhaps a skill that is not always honed by schools. The ability to “think outside the box” is going to be hugely important for the melding of our future society. From banking to government and from medicine to website design, all sectors will require individuals who are able to envisage new ways of achieving success. In the twenty-first century, as the pace of change becomes increasingly rapid, creative thinkers will be needed to imagine new industries and envisage new enterprises.
