Dear Parents, We hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well. In just a few weeks, life as we know it has completely changed. We are writing this newsletter when, for many schools worldwide, the April holiday was due to be coming to a close and Term 3 commencing. Instead, schools and educational institutions around the world are now standing empty. According to the United Nations, 91% of the world’s student population has been affected by school and university closures. To their immense credit, schools have adjusted to the transition to online education in record time. Although school closures were somewhat anticipated, there is no blueprint for this kind of situation and teachers and students are being asked to adapt to an entirely new way of classroom learning at breakneck speed. Whilst online classroom education presents a wealth of opportunity, it is still in its infancy - especially for school-age children. Teachers are aware that it is more difficult to answer questions, give feedback and provide students with individual attention. We fully understand the concerns of teachers, students and parents with regard to online classroom learning. We are here to help in any way we can through these uncertain times and are already working with many of our families. Some have sought assistance in preparing pupils for possible A Level subjects; for others we are enhancing school online learning with one-to-one top-up sessions. Other parents have asked to talk through the educational implications of the current situation. Whatever your concerns may be, we are here to help. Minerva Tuition has been offering quality one-to-one online tuition and educational advice for several years. Online education has always been at the heart of what we do. We work with a global network of well-qualified and highly experienced classroom practitioners who are fully cognisant of the different demands that online learning places on teachers. We maintain our base of operations in Hong Kong and Singapore while our tutors are based predominantly in the UK.
