Study Resolutions for a New Year

When do you learn best? Do you learn most effectively aurally, linguistically or visually? What do you do if you encounter a difficulty?

𝑶𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒂

Whether your notes are on a hard drive or paper make sure that they are easily accessible logical and tidy.

𝑼𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕

Make sure you understand the form of assessment you are studying for. Take time to look at the content and style of questions for each paper. Familiarise yourself with the mark scheme for coursework.

𝑼𝒔𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒕𝒆

Make the most of those spare 10 minute slots, travelling to school, waiting for the next lesson. Small chunks of revision are an effective way of learning.

Make studying active and effective. Don’t just read notes and highlight. Plan answers and write answers.

𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒐𝒏 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕 𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒔

Use paraphrasing. Take difficult sections from a text-book and rewrite them in your own words.
