Why should I learn Spanish?

𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 • There are 534 million Spanish speakers in the world and it is the fourth most widely spoken • It is the first language of 21 countries • It is one of the six official languages of the United Nations • With more than 33 million speakers, Spanish is the second largest language in the United States and widely spoken in South America

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞? • You'll be better able to communicate with Spanish speakers and this can open so many opportunities • Job prospects are much more favourable if you can speak Spanish • You can travel to a Spanish-speaking country and really get to know the culture and the food!

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭? • Spanish is one of the most phonetic languages in the world which makes it very easy to pronounce. Words are pronounced as they are spelt! • There are many cognates with English, which makes it easier to learn vocabulary eg. “mucho” = “a lot”

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 Learning Spanish provides a portal to some of the most culturally wonderful resources in the world: • 𝐀𝐫𝐭: from Cervantes to the surreal art of Pablo Picasso; • 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜: from the beautiful sound of Argentine tango bands to the ensemble of Cuban musicians at the Buena Vista Social Club; • 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝: or from the burritos and other local delicacies in a restaurant in Mexico City to the jamón ibérico, paella or seafood in Malaga.
